Construction of the Kazstarch plant in Shardara: a step into the future of corn processing

In Shardara, on the territory of the industrial zone, the construction of a modern Kazstarch plant is actively underway, which will become an important enterprise for processing corn in the Turkestan region, Zakon.kz reports.

The plant will have a processing capacity of 150 thousand tons of corn per year and will become one of the largest agricultural processing facilities in the region.

The project for the construction of the Kazstarch plant is being implemented in two stages and will occupy an area of 35 hectares. The first phase is to begin production of modified starch, which will be used in various industries, including the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and textile industries. The second stage involves the launch of the production of molasses, which will also be in demand in various industries, including the production of sweet products and animal feed.

One of the significant facilities at the first stage is a complex for drying and storing grain, which is currently capable of storing up to 10 thousand tons of corn. In the next stage, the storage volume will be increased by an additional 10 thousand tons, which will ensure a stable supply of raw materials for processing.

The construction project of the Kazstarch plant is important not only for Shardara, but also for the entire Turkestan region. After the plant is put into operation, more than 500 people will be provided with jobs, which will help reduce unemployment in the region and support the local economy. The plant's products, including various types of starch and molasses, will be supplied not only to the domestic market of Kazakhstan, but also exported to Asian countries, which will open up new prospects for the development of foreign trade.

In addition, the plant will play a key role in the processing of local agricultural crops such as corn, which will significantly increase the added value of agricultural raw materials and improve the economy of the region.

The total cost of the first stage of construction of the plant is 9.6 billion tenge. Significant investments have been attracted to implement the project, including one billion tenge allocated from the local budget through JSC Social and Entrepreneurial Corporation Turkestan, as well as 1.5 billion tenge provided for lending to projects in the agro-industrial complex. A significant role in financing the project was played by Kazstarch LLP and the People's Bank of Kazakhstan, which provided the necessary funds for the purchase of equipment and implementation of construction work.

The Kazstarch plant is expected to begin operations in October 2025. Completion of construction and launch of production will bring significant economic dividends for the region and will allow it to take a leading position in corn processing in Central Asia. Moreover, the project will become an important part of the strategy for the development of the agro-industrial complex of the Turkestan region, providing jobs for hundreds of people and opening new horizons for local producers.

Thus, the construction of the Kazstarch plant is not only an important event for the Turkestan region, but also a strategic step in the development of the region’s processing industry, improving working conditions for local residents and strengthening Kazakhstan’s position in international markets.
